The duck farm is also knows as Byers Homestead.
In 1849, Abram Walrod's cabin was taken down and the farmhouse that is on the property today took its place.
Two generations of the Byer family lived in this house.
In 1900 the barn was added to the property and was used as both a blacksmith shop and a post office at one point.
